As an owner of a small dog, I feel like I am always on the lookout for dangers that might threaten my tiny pooch.......cars, other animals, and especially big dogs. Today as Rue and I were on our walk, Rue was almost attacked by a pit bull! Now I have nothing against pit bulls, but I do have a problem with owners not having there dogs on a leash, especially if the owner cannot control their dog with voice commands. This is our second close call with a big dog and the first was not a good experience. Lets just say it ended with Rue crying covered in slobber around her neck and me kneeing the dog in the chest repeatedly as it jumped on me to get to Rue. After that Rue has been afraid of any dog bigger than her, which is really unfortunate because now she is not as friendly to other dogs as she once was.
But today I saw him coming, running full speed towards her with an excited dopy look on its face as if it were about to catch a squirrel. Luckily, I snatched her up just in time to get myself tackled again by another stupid dog. I understand that Rue may look like a rabbit or squirrel at times but it is the law to have your dog on a leash and Rue would greatly appreciate it if big dogs would not discriminate against her because of her size.
